We’re back from a busy couple of days at Busworld, the oldest and most famous dedicated bus and coach exhibition in the world, held in Brussels. Allison Transmission showed its ABE SeriesTM e-axle electric propulsion system to the European bus and coach industry for the first time and our Chief Commercial Officer of Electrification, Alex Schey, found himself under the spotlight as its designated tour guide. Potential OEM customers, global media and many curious engineers visited to check out Allison’s bold new electrification strategy. The display model, for a low floor 13-tonne bus, impressed with its dual electric motors, multi-speed transmissions, compactly packaged power electronics and promise of superior fuel economy and performance on high grades.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Vantage Power, An Allison Company, team met with global suppliers and potential new partners to allow us to accelerate on many technology development fronts. Busworld 2019 was the year of electrification, with floor space previously reserved for buses taken up by propulsion system componentry. It remains to be seen which of the many concepts and prototypes will be powering ahead to production come the next Brussels show in 2021. Allison and Vantage Power certainly intend to be there!
